MySpace Images

The images form the most important
part of any webpage. Same goes for your MySpace profile page. When you create
your profile manually or with the various profile editors discussed above, you
will need a place to store your images. The images can then be inserted into
your profile code (html). Now there are two ways to go about it. The first way
is to use image and photo hosting websites that provide you a place to host
your images and you can use the URL to your images in your profile code. These
websites also provide the complete code to be placed in comment boxes of your
friends as well.

The other way is relatively new but is gaining a lot of popularity pretty fast.
There are some websites that provide you with innovative image hosting solutions
like animated slideshows of all your images. You can also apply a number of
unique transitions to these slideshows. However these websites don’t give you
the direct links to your individual images. But there are always a few exceptions!
If you come across a really nice picture on the internet, then you can just
right-click the picture and choose ‘Copy image location’ (Netscape/Firefox)
or choose ‘Properties’ (IE) option to get the picture URL. However, you must
not forget to quote the source if it is a copyrighted picture. You will know
more about the importance of image URLs in the topics to follow.

A simple way to change your MySpace
profile background is as follows:-

1. Login to your MySpace Profile and click on 'Edit Profile'.
2. Copy the following code to the ‘About Me:’ section of your profile:-

Here, replace the “IMG URL HERE”
text with the URL to your image provided by the image hosting site of your choice.

Below is a list of traditional image/photo
hosting sites:-

I. PhotoBucket.com

This is the most popular photo hosting
website. It is a mix of traditional and new photo/image hosting solutions. Photobucket
provides free video sharing too. You can easily host and link your images and
videos to social networks (good old MySpace), auction sites, blogs, and message
boards. Photobucket is reliable and very easy to use. You can even create albums
and slideshows of your photos. You can also take printouts of your photos. However,
you need to register for free to upload your photos and/or videos. But you are
also free to use the images uploaded by other users as well.

How to Install:

1. Login to your Photobucket account and upload your images.
2. Once your images have been uploaded, copy the URL of an image of your choice.
3. Follow the procedure described above to change the background of your MySpace profile.
4. Preview your Profile and Save All Changes.

*To place your choice of images in
comments or bulletins to your friends:-

1. Log into your Photobucket account.
2. Check the box underneath the digital content (images, slideshows, videos,
etc.) you wish to see on your comment.
3. Click the "Generate the HTML and IMG code" button.
4. A new window will pop up.
5. Right click and copy the HTML.
6. Open a new browser window and login to your MySpace account.
7. Click the post a comment link.
8. Right click and paste in the body of the bulletin.

II. APhotoHost.com

You need to sign up for an account
to begin hosting your images for MySpace. Aphotohost has an image manager to
organize your images into various folders. It also allows creating a image gallery,
slideshow and portfolio. The total amount of disk space for all of your images
is around 200MB. You can even check out the demo on the site before you decide
to register for free.

How to Install:

1. Login to your Aphotohost account and upload your images.
2. Once your images have been uploaded, copy the code or click on ‘Copy’ button
to copy the direct link to the image or the entire HTML code.
3. Follow the procedure described above to change the background of your MySpace
profile if you copied the direct link to the image. If you want to place the
image directly in your comments, then copy the entire HTML code and paste it
into the desired location.
4. If you just changed the background of your profile, then Preview your Profile
and Save All Changes. If you placed an image in one of your comments to your
friends, then just submit it.

III. RockYou.com

This is a relatively new photo sharing
and hosting website but is one of the best out there for sure. It allows you
to create your own slideshows using pictures from your computer, an image URL,
your photobucket account, etc. You can also apply a lot of transitions. The
site also features a beta program called Scratcher. It displays a unique animation
which simulates scratching a label off a picture. And the best part is that
you can start right-away without even having to register.

How to Install:

1. Follow the instructions to create
your slideshow or scratcher.
2. Register your email id with the site if you plan to edit your slideshow later.
3. Copy the generated code.
4. Login to your MySpace Profile and click on 'Edit Profile'.
5. Paste the code in the desired section of your profile (About Me, Music, Movie,
or Comments on your friend’s profile, etc.).
6. Preview your Profile and Save All Changes.

IV. FilmLoop

FilmLoop allows you to post moving
loops of you and your friends on MySpace. Once you create a loop, FilmLoop generates
the code for you to copy and paste into MySpace. You can even choose the width
and height of your loop. And, when you add photos to your loop, they automatically
show up on MySpace. The only requirement is to download the free player to create
and view the loops.

How to Install:

1. Create your Filmloop with the
photos of your choice.
2. Copy the generated code.
3. Login to your MySpace Profile and click on 'Edit Profile'.
4. Paste the code in the desired section of your profile (About Me, Music, Movie,
or Comments on your friend’s profile, etc.).
5. Preview your Profile and Save All Changes.

V. ImageShack

This site allows you to upload images
from your computer or from a website. You can also resize your images to different
formats before uploading. The maximum image size is 1.5MB. That means you can
upload high-quality images as well. The best part is that you can download the
ImageShack Toolbar to directly upload images from your computer or from websites
while browsing the internet. You can even upload flash files. Only the following
file types are allowed:

JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, TIF, TIFF, AND SWF

ImageShack also features a full-fledged
Slide Show builder for images from your computer, from a URL or from www.Flickr.com
photo hosting site.

How to Install:

1. Browse to the file on your computer.
2. If you wish to resize your image, then choose the appropriate options and
click ‘Host It’ button.
3. Copy the ‘Hotlink for Forums’ or ‘Hotlink for Websites’ for placing the image
in your comments or copy the direct link to image for creating your profile
background using the method described at the beginning of this section.

This is a good site but doesn’t go
very well with MySpace. But you can give it a try nonetheless. Use the methods
described above to place the images from Flickr on your MySpace page.
